Our Purpose...
Houston Focus on Concerns for Women, formerly Houston Financial Council for Women, was founded in 1974 to advance financial awareness in women and to encourage, support and organize educational activities that promote financial awareness in women. Through the decades our focus has broadened to include our interests in professional development, business ethics, personal and professional growth, global and financial awareness and to support activities that encourage professional, ethical, civic and fiscal responsibility for executive and entrepreneurial women.
Through this web site, our goal is to help you learn even more about our Meetings, Membership Information, Member Businesses, and the Organization in general.
The Organization...
This dynamic professional group
is comprised of women actively engaged in business, women retired from an active career and women still pursuing their education. Diversity is our greatest asset as membership is open to all professions.
We are proud to have members representing a wide variety of businesses and professions: realtors, lawyers, financial consultants, published authors, real estate brokers, accountants, and executives in transportation, publishing, insurance, media, travel, and others. We exchange ideas, network and provide a supportive sounding board for our members.

Speaker/Program:
The Art of Standing Out with
Creative Branding - Personal branding is a hot topic. Get visible
when you reconnect not only with friends and family members, but reach
out to people whom you've not contacted recently. Everyone you know can
be a brand ambassador for you, but only if you stay in touch
authentically with inventive communications that set you apart. You'll
leave this program with imaginative and fun takeaways to help you
differentiate yourself, stand out and stay excited and engaged. Leigh's
hands-on exercises will help you creatively market "Brand You."
Leigh Owen is director of
marketing for Vickie Milazzo Institute, just named for the second year
in a row as one of Inc.'s Top 5000 Fastest Growing Private
Companies in America. The institute is a $16-million education training
company certifying registered nurses to consult with attorneys on cases
with medical-related issues. Since 2001, Leigh has promoted the company
and its trademark certification program to the 2 million nurses in the
U.S. She is in charge of the publication of all the Institute's
educational textbooks, DVD's and audio programs. Leigh also oversees the
company's four websites. Visit LegalNurse.com and InsideEveryWoman.com
